Wow, it's been a really long time since I've written a journal so lets remedy that.
So to start here's a brief overview of what I've been up to since 2012 passed. I made my new years resolutions, here's hoping that I can keep them: To finish all cosplay before con and not in the hotel, to save up to afford a new car, and to pay off my student loans. It's a pretty simple list I think. Next I ventured to Katsucon 2013 and I had a wonderful time! I met many new cosplayers & photographers. But the part I personally enjoyed most was spending time with my old friends & the new friends I made along the way. An so far so good! I did manage to finish Chii from Chobits before Katsucon! Though I didn't get Zelda finished so I left her at home. Considering how costly a project she's becoming I really didn't want to rush getting her done and there will always be other conventions that I can wear her to! I did however get to wear Rydia from Final Fantasy IV which was made by the lovely Chiki Cosplay and then was given the option to actually take her home with me. Of course, I did indeed pay Chiki for the cosplay that she had made and it's a huge honor to be able to own something that she has made.
Next up a month later was PAXEast. This was my first time attending PAXEast and I have to say honestly I enjoyed it greatly! The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, the attendees were all extremely pleasant and I haven't heard a single horror story yet so that to me says a lot. I attended a few panels such as: Final Fantasy PAX East Panel and during the trivia session at the end was the first, and perhaps most over eager person, to throw up her hand to answer the question. "What is the actual name of Dagger from Final Fantasy 9?" Needless to say, that's actually my favorite Final Fantasy game so I would've been terrible disappointed in myself if I didn't know the answer. For those of you who don't know the answer though it's Garnet Til Alexandros the 17th. (Not gonna bother with roman numerals right now. XD ) I then attended What's Your Gamer Type, which was very interesting. Then were the Friday Night Concerts. Needless to say the VGO was amazing as always! Following them was Those Who Fight a Final Fantasy Rock Opera Band and they're performance was amazing! That an I'm always for female lead vocalists in rock and metal music. Last but certainly not least Protomen performed and I had never heard of them but I'm quite glad that I stayed to watch they're performance. The lead vocalist has a beautiful voice and it's so full of raw emotions, furthermore their music was simply amazing, the lyrics not only tell a story but they make you think and can even bring you to tears! In terms of their story telling I was reminded of Jethro Tull, for their storytelling abilities are amazing.
Saturday & Sunday I went to a League of Legends panel and spent all of my day at the Riot Games (They make League of Legends) booth in the exhibitor hall. Afterwards Riot Games hosted a Pub Crawl, the first one I've ever been to actually, and that was a lot of fun! They had created drinks based off of abilities of certain champions such as: Diana's Pale Cascade , Vi's Vault Breaker, Singed's Insanity Potion, Miss Fortune's Impure Shots, Gangplanks Scurvy Destroyer, Jayce's Martini of Tomorrow, and Kayle's Timely Intervention. I tried the Pale Cascade, which was Vanilla Vodka & Ginger ale, which needless to say became my favorite drink of the night. But I also enjoyed Miss Fortune's Impure Shots, they were incredibly sweet, I tried Vi's Vault Breaker & Singed's Insanity Potion but neither were really my thing however Singed's insanity potion was neon green so that was pretty awesome! Some other awesome things about the Pub Crawl though was the fact that the riot staff who had come to PAXEast was simply spending time with the other con goers who were attending the pubcrawl. So I spent some time talking with Morello and a few of the artists who work for Riot Games. At 10:00 P.M. though everyone went to the Pub that was refered to as The Nexus. Then at 11:00 P.M. The Yordles performed there, unfortunately I wasn't there to watch the performance as I went to attend one more panel in hopes of getting to play against TeamSoloMid. However, time ran out just as I would've gotten my chance in the end though on Sunday I did get to talk to Reginald so in the end I was ok with it.
At present now that PAXEast has been over for almost a whole week I'm back to the usual daily grind of work and reality. But my time when not at work is spent with working on my novel, roleplaying, sewing new cosplay (Be on the look out for Panda Annie & Twilight Princess Zelda!) So now that you've read this semi long update I'll let you get back to your regular daily routine. Thanks for reading!
